How old is Sora in Kingdom Hearts 4?

Table of Contents

The first trailer for Kingdom Hearts 4 has been shown to the world and people are excited about the new game, but they also have some burning questions. From the trailer it is evident that there is a new world to explore and a new story to unfold, but how old is Sora going to be and how much time has passed?

What is Sora's age in Kingdom Hearts 4?

In Kingdom Hearts 4, Sora will most likely be 17 or 18 years old. The KH timeline can be quite confusing to keep up with, so we will explain how we have come to our conclusion.

Below are Sora's ages in previous games:

  • Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep - 4 years old
  • Kingdom Hearts 1 - 14 years old
  • Kingdom Hearts 2 - 15 years old
  • Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance - 15/16 years old
  • Kingdom Hearts 3 - 16/17 years old

With the usual progression being that Sora ages a year between the main games in the series, it would stand to reason that he will be about 18 in the upcoming game. The part that keeps it speculative, however, is the dialogue spoken in the trailer

Upon waking up, the newest KH girl Strelitzia informs Sora that he has been asleep since he arrived in Quadratum, seven days prior. This still leaves a lot of questions such as: has it only been a week since the end of Kingdom Hearts 3? Or has Sora been on a different adventure for a longer time before ending up passed out in Quadratum?

These are questions that will no doubt be answered in the future, but until then we believe that the previous ageing pattern of Sora points to him being at the top of his teen years. Either way, to us he'll always be the goofy little kid from KH1 that we know and love.
